Nicole Cameron awarded Killam Predoctoral Scholarship
FishPeoplePlace PhD student and community member Nicole Cameron was selected as one of the recipients for the 2026 Killam Predoctoral Scholarships. This scholarship is generously awarded by the Killam Trusts whose mission is to “provide scholarships, fellowships, prizes and other funding to scholars who contribute to building Canada’s future and increasing the scientific attainment of Canadians through research excellence.”
Nicole Cameron’s work will be supported by her Killam award for the next three years. Congratulations Nicole!
In addition to the funding that will support her research on the perceptions of non-native fish in recreational angling, this award comes with opportunities to participate in Killam scholar initiatives and events. Nicole is extremely honoured to be a part of the Killam Scholars family and is excited to learn about the diversity of research her new colleagues are accomplishing.
Nicole is tremendously grateful to Dr. Hannah Harrison, the FishPeoplePlace lab, and her external partners at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture for their support during her fist two PhD terms.
