Hannah Harrison wins Dalhousie President’s Award

FPP Lab lead Dr. Hannah Harrison was recently announce as one of Dalhousie University’s 2025 President’s Research Excellence Award winners in the Emerging Investigator category! This recognition honours those who, early in their careers, have made noteworthy contributions to Dalhousie’s research culture. Dr. Harrison's nomination recognized her work in salmon conservation, small-scale fisheries and seafood systems, and use of innovative techniques like film and podcasting to both conduct research and share findings with broad public audiences.

In receiving the award, Dr. Harrison said, "It's very special to be recognized for my work, which is sometimes a little 'out-of-the-box' and focused on community-level impact. I am deeply appreciative to my supportive colleagues at the Marine Affairs Program (MAP) who have helped me get established at Dalhousie, to Dalhousie University - Faculty of Science, Maxine Westhead, and Kai Lorenzen for supporting my nomination, and especially to the community of students and partners that make this work so fun and worthwhile."

Dr. Harrison will be recognized for this honour at the Dalhousie Legacy Awards in November of 2025. In the meantime, she is grateful for the FishPeoplePlace Lab community for their work, comradery, and good spirits.
