FPP at APC Atlantic First Nations Salmon Governance Forum

On March 4-5, 2026 members of the FPP lab community had the honour of attending the Atlantic Policy Congress of First Nations Chiefs Secretariat’s Atlantic First Nations Salmon Governance Forum in Moncton, New Brunswick. This event featured a wide variety of presentations, panels, and facilitated discussions on topics related to access to Atlantic salmon, governance successes and challenges, partnerships, funding mechanisms for salmon conservation work, and more. Sometimes emotional, sometimes joyful, and often challenging, the discussions brought to the forefront the many, many challenges Atlantic salmon are facing, as well as the communities that care for them. Our group is very grateful for the invitation to join this event and will continue to reflect on what we learned in our own work in the months to come.

Happily, other students and faculty from the Marine Affairs Program were also in attendance, and we even remembered to take a photo!
